Back 2 School

September = back to school. In addition to 6th graders, I'm teaching 5th graders. They are too cute. Things are totally different this year- in a good way.

Natalie is my friend and co-teacher and we are making a huge effort to establish the importance of respect, have fun, and play music in the classroom.

We are teaching science and math.

I'm loving that new Jay Z/Alicia Keys song about New York. It's exciting to listen to it living in NYC.

I'm also loving living in Brooklyn. The view is better.

Minnesota

I was in MN for about two weeks. I was all over the place and got to see many wonderful people.

First I was in Mankato and I saw all the Duffy's. I forgot to take pictures.

Then I spent some time with the Schultz family in Ely. Here is a view from the cabin.

Sometimes I let others row while I just sat in the canoe.

I also went to Willmar and saw more family but forgot to take pictures again.

Then I went back to Mankato.

I went to a b-day party with BFF Rachel.

Then we saw our old pal Rose.

And my last night was spent in Minneapolis. I stayed with Elizabeth.

We had the same sunglasses! Isn't that crazy?!

And Matt, Steve, and Evin joined us and we sang some karaoke. It was Elizabeth's first time. As you can see, she looks unsure about it. But she sang!

Bacon

Today was super humid. It felt like I was swimming in air! Dylan and I beat the heat by going to the Met to see the Francis Bacon exhibit. I like his paintings a lot. They are amazingly creepy. There were several rooms full of them. Here's a taste:

On Sunday I made Italian Enchiladas and tonight I made Tex-Mex Lasagna. I'm mixin' it up around here.
