Sooo, I listened to those songs. Yeah, Crash Years was nice. Dylan did not approve. Ha! The song that I cannot get enough of this week is Cat Stevens' "Father and Son". Soooo good.
That's some depressing shit. I appreciate how simple and melodic it is, though. Feels more like an off-the-cuff expression than a crafted song.
Ask Dylan what's wrong with "Crash Years," aside from the fact it's a minute too long, doesn't break any NP ground, and has a sort of ridiculous sea shanty whistling post-chorus?
Aside from those three things I think it's beautifully done. Another great series of melodies, clever arrangements, and reasonably well-thought lyrics.
Comparing that and "Father and Son," though, there is a huge difference. Cat Stevens feels a little less fabricated.

Forget exercise; let's talk some more music. New New Pornographers songs are up -- new album in about six weeks:

"Your Hands (Together" -- fucking terrible!
"Crash Years" -- fucking great!
Altogether, I can hardly wait.
